So it’s marathon training season, so the Sunday Long Run (SLR) starts to happen! If you’re one of us (or looking for a club that can help) you’re in great company and we’ve set up a series of long runs to help support runners of all speeds build up their mileage. Where possible we’ve picked runs that keep us on paths, and away from any traffic, and we’re lucky in Oxfordshire in having some of the most beautiful countryside to run in.

The runs are usually arranged by individual members, and don’t always happen, so if you’re interested in joining us please get in touch.

The Runs…

Our method is to have 3 long runs a month (Cross country happens on the first Sunday of the month), and so we use the following routes:

“The Royal Run” – this run takes us out of Kidlington along the canal path, and up the Woodstock road to Blenheim Palace. A mixture of routes here allows us to change the length of the run.
Royal Run I – Route
Royal Run II – Route
Royal Run III – Route

“The Fellows Run” – we set off south along the canal path to Wolvercote, then head along the Thames into Oxford, then we come back via the Oxford University Parks and Water Eaton. We can easily lengthen the runs by including Christchurch Meadow and adding distance around the Uni Parks.
Fellows Run I – Route
Fellows Run II – Route
Fellows Run III – Route

“The Mystery Run” – these are going to be different each time and will ideally start and finish in or near a pub (in time for lunch!), here are the routes;
Mystery Run I – Route
Mystery Run II – Route
Mystery Run III – (Still a secret!)

All the routes above are subject to change as we might encounter weather issues this time of year or other problems, and the latest news and information is shared on Whatsapp, and Facebook.
